Anusara yoga

Anusara yoga is one of the newest types of yoga as it was only established in 1997 by John Friend. Anusara yoga has a Tantric philosophy and is actually a development from the hatha yoga. At first all the teachers who were certified to give anusara yoga classes had been taught by the developer himself. Friend was also the reason why anusara yoga managed to spread rather quickly and compete with other types of yoga classes.

In anusara yoga all postures are based on the “universal principle of alignment”. The philosophy of this school of yoga is also applied in real life, namely by of attaining bliss and joy in everyday little things. In addition, the manifest philosophy of anusara yoga is seeing the Divine, and the concept of God is free and without limitations. Thus, it is really popular among the Western way of thinking that avoids all limitations and wants to make the rules themselves.

Anusara yoga is especially popular in America as it is quite upbeat, optimistic and people can actually do it also without an instructor. In addition, the beliefs in anusara yoga are not dogmatic and forced on people, rather than just spiritual as it was also implied before with the concept of God.
